Shinedown's giving away an iPad

There are only a few short days before "Amaryllis" is finally released and we need you to help it bloom! Those who go the extra mile will be greatly rewarded for their efforts.
   
Become an official ‘Amaryllis’ ambassador and you will have a chance to win the hot off the presses BRAND NEW 4G iPad (that with 32G of storage and Wi-Fi enabled, of course) signed by the band!
   
For the next 4 weeks, each band member will  be giving away one iPad per week. How far will you go to make your entry stand out? It could range to anything from taking a video of yourself standing outside a record store telling people to buy "Amaryllis", to taking the cover art to the top of your local landmark and taking a picture! The more time and effort you put in, the greater the chances of success. Just remember to be yourself, and be creative!

1) Upload a photo of yourself with the ‘Amaryllis’ artwork. Be creative, be edgy, and spread the word as much as possible! We’ll pick the most creative entry each week. Make sure you select the "Amaryllis Bloom" category when uploading otherwise your entry doesn't count.

Music worth listening to: Message to Venus "Change"

So lots of bands are following me on twitter all of the sudden. Wow, usually it's me following bands, not the other way around. Anyway, these guys started following me so I figured I'd give 'em a listen. I like it. :) More of an rock sound than hard and heavy metal, but definitely good. Here's their first single, "Change." 3 Pill Morning signs to A

Motley Crue and Kiss announce tour dates!!! NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!

Motley Crüe and Kiss are touring together this summer and it's sure to be one badass concert!!! I've seen both bands separately and both are freakin' awesome at putting on a great show. This should be the show to end all shows!!!! I personally can't wait for the reviews and photos and I really hope Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx go back to hiding concert tickets in every city of the tour and tweeting their location like they did last year. Shinedown has been tweeting that you can listen to Amaryllis on iTunes for free today. Great chance to try before you buy. I love when bands do this, it usually shows that they are confident that they've put out quality music and are confident in every song, especially in today's climate where you can choose to only buy the songs you want and not get stuck with filler material.

Shinedown is consistently excellent. I know what I'll be listening to at work today. Click on this link, click View in iTunes (yeah, you gotta have iTunes to listen) and you should see a blue button that let's you stream. :)

Def Leppard have announced that they will make a return to the United States this June with a massive summer tour in support of their new music "Mirror Ball: Live & More". RIP Randy Rhoads

30 years ago today the world lost one of the most amazing guitarists ever. His music stands the test of time and he remains one of the most influential rock guitarists out there. RIP Randy Rhoads. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Very nice tribute video....it includes some of his Quiet Riot footage (everyone associates him with Ozzy, but he was also a founding member of Quiet Riot) Just watch and enjoy...

Steven Adler announces new band

Steven Adler, former drummer of Guns N Roses in their heydey, has announced his new band Adler, not to be confused with his former band, Adler's Appetite. As he posted on Facebook, the band consists of Lonnie Paul, Jacob Bunton and of course, Adler himself. Apparently they have 8 songs written, so stay tuned for new music. I can't wait to see what the new band comes up with,

Vince Neil buys strip club in Vegas

I'm not making this up. He says it will be Vince Neil's Girls Girls Girls and it will have a better soundtrack and tattoos won't be prohibited. (I didn't know they were prohibited, but whatever)

Not sure if this is a good move for him or if he's setting himself up to get sued for sexual harassment. He's always dated strippers. The line "Tropicana's where I lost my heart," always seemed kind of sweet to me because his second wife Sharise used to mud wrestle there. But it is oddly fitting and I guess if you bought a Harley and other fast cars in your 20s, this is how you have a midlife crisis when you're the singer for Mötley Crüe. :)

Tommy Lee: Something new coming. Details on the 20th

Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee has broadcast some teasing tweets today.

Of course we don't know if it's Crue news or his electronic music that has some news coming. He's mentioned working on both on his Facebook and Twitter. Here's hoping for New Crue! Guess we'll have to wait till March 20th to find out what it is.

Motorhead added to Mayhem Festival lineup

From the Mayhem Facebook: Mayhem today is announcing the addition of Motörhead to the 2012 line-up! This marks the first summer tour that Motörhead has taken part in for several years. Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister commented, "Well, we're used to mayhem in this band, so it's kind of a family tradition! Bring it!"

James Michael and Five Finger Death Punch on Rockline tomorrow night

I didn't realize the old call in radio show Rockline was still around, but they are. Sixx:AM's James Michael (who also produces a ton of other bands, including Papa Roach and some of the new Mötley Crüe) tweeted that he'll be on this week, Monday, March 5. When I went to see more info, I saw that it's actually a double header with James Michael and Five Finger Death Punch.

Jack Russell's Great White starts the High Seas Tour. More drama...

A lot has been going on with Jack Russell's incarnation of Great White this week. First they had to reschedule their first show of the High Seas Tour, posting this message on Facebook:

Due to circumstances beyond their control, the Jack Russell's Great White show at Jannus Live is being rescheduled for this coming summer. This has nothing to do with Jack's health or abililty to perform, or any other member of the band. The HIGH SEAS WORLD TOUR is set to begin this Saturday in Sanford Fl and the rest of the dates are as previously announced. We will soon be announcing the first few dates of the AMERICA ROCKS TOUR as well. Jack and the band are ready to hit the road, and as seen in the videos already released on Youtube, Jack is healthy and in great spirits, and the whole band is ready to bring you a GREAT Great White show!

Apparently that got tongues wagging and rumors flowing because he posted this 13 hours later:

I have been reading a lot of posts about the recent Jannus Live gig. First of all, you people making these statements are MORONS. If you knew the truth you would keep your mouths shut, it makes you look unintelligent at best. We had nothing to do with this, the promoter wanted to change the date to summer for his own reasons. This, of course, was a letdown to us all but "it is what it is". We will now start the tour in Sanford Fl. two nights later. I realize my former band mates have a few fans, and some of them want to try and make me look bad. GOOD LUCK! Don't you understand that Jack is the only one that can make Jack look bad. I’ve been doing this longer than some of you have been alive and God has brought me back from the gates of insanity and death and has given me one more chance to do what he put me here to do. Nobody, not you haters or anyone else is going to stop me! I AM sober and my health IS great, so why don't you just go watch your other band while you still can and stop being haters if possible. Maybe you should come check out a show, you might like it. I have always encouraged my fans to go see both bands, I'm not scared. Love Captain Jack

No dates have been announced yet, but they are forthcoming.

On a lighter note, bass player Dario Seixas lost his luggage leading to this amusing set of photos. Sadly, he was reunited with his luggage and clothes, to the disappointment of all the women who were planning to go to that show.
