They don't call him "Wild Mick Brown" for nothing: Drummer charged with in golf cart DUI

I didn't even know you could get arrested for DUI on a golf cart. Guess Mick pissed someone off. I love this story cause it seems like the fun-loving Wild Mick Brown I remember from the 80s.
Ted Nugent's drummer faces several charges after police in Bangor, Maine, say he was seen driving drunk in a golf cart stolen from a concert venue.
Officers working at Nugent's Sunday night concert at the city's waterfront pavilion were told that 55-year-old Mick Brown was intoxicated, had stolen the cart and was driving it recklessly on a foot path.
According to the Bangor Daily News, police officer Steve Jordan spotted Brown driving with two females on the cart and attempted to stop the drummer without success. When officers tried to stop the cart again, Brown sped past them and shoved a security officer. Two security officers then removed Brown from the cart, and he was arrested.
Brown, of Cave Creek, Ariz., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving to endanger, theft and assault. He was released on $4,000 bail and is due back in court Aug. 15.

Lamb of God launches page to raise money for Randy Blythe

As Randy Blythe remains in a Czech prison, Lamb of God has added a widget to their Facebook page to raise money for his legal defense. Though $200k bail has already been posted, apparently that doesn't mean you can go free over there so Randy is still jailed.
Fact of the matter is his legal bills are going to continue to pile up. He has lawyers over there, but apparently they're going to fly over some U.S. lawyers as well.

On the page, Lamb of God notes:
While we appreciate the outpouring of support, we are not interested in trying to profit or gather press or sympathy from this event. We have assembled this page to make it possible for people that feel so inclined to donate to the expenses incurred in defending this case. One hundred percent of the money raised will go to the legal fees and any remaining balance will be given to a charity of Randy's choice upon his release.
Personally I'm glad there's something I can do besides post "#freeRandyBlythe" over and over again. I wish I had more to give, but every little bit helps. Funny thing is I'm not actually a big Lamb of God fan, but followed Randy on Twitter for a while (before he deactivated his account) and read his Randonesia blog. There were times I didn't agree with what he said, other times he had me laughing pretty hard (if anyone else saw the posts about taking Henry to Petsmart to get groomed...) but I loved his writings and developed a ton of respect for him.

I keep thinking of this photo and I hope he can do this again soon.

BBC: Randy Blythe still in Czech prison despite posting bail

The BBC is reporting that Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe is still in jail in the Czech Republic despite posting bail a few days ago. You can read the complete story here:

This is complete bullshit. I know he's a definite flight risk: He was only supposed to be in their country for a night. But he paid the bail so he's supposed to be able to leave. That's pretty much the purpose of bail.

Not to mention that the whole charge is pretty bogus. Apparently a 19 year old fan known in the court proceedings as Daniel N. jumped on stage not one but three times. The third time Blythe is alleged to have pushed him down, causing him to fall on the concrete floor and die from his injuries a few days later.

I feel for the guy's family and it's a tragedy that he died, but he is responsible for his own death. He's the one who jumped up on stage. ok, maybe he was just stage diving, but there are inherent risks with stage diving. Sad thing is if security had moved that kid, he would've been pissed but he would still be alive.

The band is encouraging everyone to wear their Lamb of God clothes on July 4 for Independence Day. I wish wearing the shirt would actually do something to get Randy Blythe released from prison.

All we can really do is wait and see if he really gets released. If the Free Randy shirt sales are contributing to his defense I'll get one. The fact that he's still detained is just insane! And if he does get out, I hope he runs and never returns to Eastern Europe again!

In related news, the official Lamb of God twitter posted this video which supposedly shows the alleged incident.

AP: Tom Morello of 'Rage' leads LA Wal-Mart protest

This really doesn't surprise me today. Tom Morello has never been shy about his beliefs and protesting. Good for him for lending his name and celebrity to something he's passionate about. Too bad we can't get him involved in the Wal-Mart protest in downtown Athens.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOS ANGELES —  Hundreds of people marched Saturday through the streets of Chinatown in Los Angeles to protest against Wal-Mart's plans to open a store in the neighborhood.

The colorful event included lion dancers, bicyclists and a rally under Chinatown's dragon gates, headlined by Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello.

Many said they came to protest against the proposed store while others said they came to decry what they said were Wal-Mart's low wages and union-busting attempts.

"This historic neighborhood will be utterly gutted if Wal-Mart comes here," Morello told The Associated Press about the prospects of the retail giant driving smaller stores in Chinatown out of business.

"It's Wal-Mart's global policy of sweatshop labor and poverty level wages that we don't need in LA," he said.

Wal-Mart began construction this week with plans to open the store next year.

The proposed store is not a Walmart Supercenter but what the company calls a "neighborhood market," one that is about a fifth the size of a supercenter and typically carries groceries, fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, deli foods, stationery and dry goods.

Company officials selected the location after determining the Chinatown neighborhood was among those underserved when it comes to providing fresh food, Wal-Mart said.

Spokesman Steven Restivo said more than 170,000 people were expected to shop at a Walmart store in Los Angeles County on Saturday.

"Clearly, the vast majority of customers see Wal-Mart as part of the solution when it comes to things like jobs, healthier foods and sustainability," Restivo said. "We remain committed to serving customers here and look forward to soon opening new Walmart Neighborhood Market stores in Panorama City, Altadena and downtown Los Angeles."

Restivo noted last month that the Chinatown store is planned for a building that has been vacant for nearly two decades and was previously zoned for a grocery store.
